Brian Cooney's usual practice is to give his Oswego football players two weeks off after every season before hitting the weights.

The kids weren't having that this past offseason.

Barely any time passed by after Oswego's 31-30, double overtime second-round playoff loss to Bolingbrook before the returning Panthers were back, en masse, to the weight room.

"I know some programs give their kids until after Christmas, but we get kids that want to get right back in it," Cooney said. "After the Bolingbrook game the weight room was packed with kids. We had a really good showing in our offseason lifting before things got shut down."
