EARLVILLE — The Earlville Red Raiders were defeated by the Rockford Christian Life Eagles 63-49 in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night.

Landon Larkin had 20 points for Earlville (2-3). Davis Sweeney had a dozen points.

Newark 62, Morris 22

At Newark, the Lady Norsemen (4-2) beat the Lady Redskins in a nonconference game.

JJ Mitchell scored 22 points to lead Newark. Meggie Scott added 15 points, dished out six assists and swiped five steals. Annika Myre contributed 10 points off the bench. Sienna Skelton grabbed seven rebounds.

Putnam County 49, Earlville 33

At Granville, the Lady Red Raiders were defeated by the Lady Panthers in a nonconference game.

Putnam County led 12-11 after one quarter, 23-20 at the half and 41-27 though three periods of play.

Alexis Olson had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds for Earlville. Elizabeth Browder also had 10 points.

Fieldcrest 51, Heyworth 36

At Minonk, the Knights opened Heart of Illinois Conference play with a win over the Lady Hornets.

Alyx Carls scored a dozen points to lead Fieldcrest (6-0, 1-0). Hannah Baker and Ashlyn May each added 10 points.

Mendota 3,248, Streator 3,097

The Bowlin' Bulldogs were defeated by the Trojans in a non-league meet.

Ben Pond had a 596 series with games of 214, 196 and 186 for Streator. Brady Grabowski had a 569 series, which included games of 202 and 190. Carson Trenor had a 202 game.

La Salle-Peru 3,235, Ottawa 2,824

At Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru, the Pirates were beaten by the Cavaliers in an Interstate Eight Conference meet.

Keegan Fleming had a 536 series — which included a 204 game — for Ottawa. Ty Trovero had a 512 series with a 193 game.

At Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru, the Lady Pirates were beaten by the Lady Cavaliers in their season-opening Interstate Eight Conference meet.

McKenzie Lewis had a 454 series for Ottawa. Alex Graham-Harris had a 405 series, which included a 182 game.

Caden Price had a 360 series and Levi Nodine a 143 game for Streator during its narrow loss to Mendota.
