The IHSA granted a waiver to allow the Wolverines to play, even though they had not played the requisite eight games. … Simeon beat Lakes, 34-3, last week. RB Chau Smith carried 11 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns in that game. He has 11 NCAA Division I offers and is dangerous as a return man on special teams. … QB Jacquez Woodland threw for 127 yards and ran for 80 last week, with a 58-yard touchdown run.

About the Wolves: Prairie Ridge is trying to win the Class 6A state title for the third time in four years. The Wolves defeated Grayslake North, 51-6, in the first round. … FB Carter Evans, the team’s rushing leader with 922 yards, suffered a broken left fibula last week and is out for the remainder of the playoffs.
