ELMHURST – Owen Pechous turned a forgettable opener into an unforgettable ending.

After being promoted to the varsity last season, Pechous was a reserve wide receiver in York’s season-opening 21-13 loss in coach Mike Fitzgerald first game of his tenure at the Elmhurst school.

Eight weeks later, after the Dukes wiped away the frustration of a four-game mid-season losing streak with memorable wins over Proviso West and Downers Grove North, Pechous had established himself as a starter on a team building toward a playoff run in 2019.
